Big News! MESH and Shell Foundation are joining forces to scale green jobs across Africa for a new generation
Here’s the challenge we're tackling together:
🔴 420M young people in Sub-Saharan Africa — a number set to double by 2050
🔴 85% of new job seekers end up in the informal economy
🔴 Women and youth bear the brunt of rising unemployment
🔴 The current system is not built for how young Africans live, work, and earn
But we also see a once-in-a-generation opportunity:
✅ Africa’s green economy could generate 100 million sustainable jobs by 2050
✅ Platforms like WhatsApp, Instagram & MESH are already reshaping how people find money making opportunities
✅ Mobile phone access is booming — 88% penetration projected by 2030
✅ Digital communities can remove barriers to information, skills, finance, and markets 🚀
As the first digital platform built for Africa’s hustle economy, we’re working with Shell Foundation to explore how platforms like ours can connect young workers to real income opportunities in the green economy — at scale.
We bring:
⚡ A growing user base of informal workers
⚡ Proven training & content tools
⚡ The ability to recruit MESHERS for gigs, finance & green jobs
This partnership is about reimagining livelihoods — not just as opportunities for income generation, but as a path to climate-smart, aspirational work that fits the skills and dreams of young people today.
If we get this right, we’ll make a meaningful dent in youth unemployment — while supporting the shift to greener, more sustainable livelihoods.
